Communion at Mile 26.2

Every marathon has a table.

For runners, it’s a place to grab water, catch their breath, and find enough strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

For Christians, that table is Communion.

The bread reminds us that Christ’s body was broken so we could keep going when life breaks us. The cup reminds us that His blood paid the price our own efforts never could. We don’t come to the Lord’s Table because we’ve run a perfect race—we come because we need His grace for the miles that still lie ahead.

No marathon is won by sprinting from start to finish. It is won by endurance, perseverance, and refusing to quit. Likewise, the Christian life isn’t about flawless performance; it’s about faithfully following Jesus, day after day, until we cross the finish line.

Communion is our reminder that we never run alone. The One who carried the cross now walks beside us through every uphill climb, every painful mile, and every weary step.

So take the bread. Drink the cup. Then rise from the table and keep running the race set before you, knowing that Christ has already secured the victory. ~OC
