My Journey

I was diagnosed with Covid and double pneumonia back in February. I spent 10 days on the Covid floor at Good Samaritan Medical Center. I dealt with multiple issues after recovering from Covid. No, it’s not like a bad cold. As I was finally starting to feel a little better, I was hit with a nasty viral infection about four weeks ago. That infection literally brought back every symptom I dealt with back in February. Back in May, Laura West Shoemaker and I both got vaccinated. Do I know what’s in the vaccine? No. Do I know what’s in any of the vaccines I have received since I was a baby? No. Before I became 100% Plant-Based, did I know what was in the Big Mac or Chick fil a sandwich? No, but I still ate it. I do not know what’s in the medications that helped keep me alive for all these years. But for over 18 years, my medical team has never done anything to harm me. So if they are comfortable getting the vaccine, so I am.

This post is not me telling you to get vaccinated or wear a mask. That’s not my job. I made the choice to get vaccinated and to wear a mask for the following reasons:

To not die from Covid-19. Yes, you can get Covid more than once.

If I happen to get Covid, I will probably not be hospitalized again.

To not overburden the hospitals and staff.

To keep those around me with compromised systems safe.

To be part of ending this horrible disease.

No I am not a medical expert. Most of the people reading this post are not either. I will choose to listen to the medical experts that God has put in my life.

This is not a political post. Covid is not a political issue, even if some people are trying to make it one. So please no political comments or conspiracy theories. People are dying. If you choose to leave political comments or conspiracy theories, I will delete your comment. Thanks. ~OC

Passion

Today’s a new day! Because we were created by God for his glory, our desire should be to know and share His truth passionately with a lost world. ~OC

Thank You!

Today’s a new day! Most of you know about my crazy beautiful health journey. For almost 18 years, I spent the majority of my life at Good Samaritan Medical Center on 4 South. Those years were not easy, but I was blessed with an amazing medical team. The Doctors, Nurses, CNA’s, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Admissions, Food Service, Tech’s, Transport and Administration became family. We spent many holidays and Super Bowls together. Each of these wonderful. amazing heroes made the tough days easier for Laura West Shoemaker and I.

As we watch this new Covid wave come through, I am concerned for my friends in the healthcare profession. I pray for them and check on them often. I encourage everyone to keep our healthcare workers in your prayers. Their job was difficult before Covid, but this horrible virus has put more of a strain on each of them. If you or a family member find yourselves in the hospital, please show these beautiful heroes respect. These amazing people are there to help you and your loved one. They are actually putting their lives and the lives of their own families on the line to help you get back to your loved ones. So today, say a prayer for all the amazing healthcare workers and hospital/nursing home staff. If you know a healthcare worker take the time to thank them for their service. ~OC

Be Kind

Today’s a new day! Check on your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. A smile or positive social media post doesn’t mean everything is okay. ~OC

Surrender

We don’t talk about surrendering to God anymore. We talk about 15 steps to be a better you, 10 steps to your best life and 5 steps to be a better leader. We spend all of our time building up what God called us to crucify. ~OC

Choose Wisely

During this crazy beautiful journey called life, we will be forced to choose between walking with certain loved ones/friends or walking with Jesus. My prayer is we always recognize when we’re being asked to make that choice, that we choose wisely every single time. ~OC

Keep Running

Today’s a new day! Life is like running. Each step is a new memory. The more steps you take, the more memories you make. Never stop running!!! ~OC

Promises

Today’s a new day! Do not allow the noise of your past to drown out the peace of your presence and the promises of your future. ~OC
