Discipline isn’t always about doing what we feel like doing. Sometimes it’s about doing what we know we’re called to do.
There will be mornings when we don’t feel motivated to pray. Days when opening the Bible feels difficult. Moments when loving someone, forgiving someone, serving someone, or simply getting back up feels like more than we can handle.
That’s where discipline matters.
Discipline is choosing faithfulness when feelings are telling us to quit.
Paul reminds us:
“I discipline my body and keep it under control.”
— 1 Corinthians 9:27
Following Jesus isn’t a sprint. It’s a lifelong journey of putting one foot in front of the other and continuing to say, “Yes, Lord.”
We don’t develop spiritual strength by accident. We develop it through prayer, Scripture, obedience, worship, service, forgiveness, and perseverance.
And when we fail—and we will—discipline means we don’t stay down.
We get back up.
Today, don’t worry about being perfect. Just be faithful.
Take the next step.
Say the next prayer.
Do the next right thing.
Love the next person God puts in front of you.
Discipline isn’t about earning God’s love. It’s about responding to the love He has already given us.
Keep showing up.
Keep trusting Jesus.
Keep walking.
One faithful step at a time.
