Do It Now

Stop saying I need to call that friend or get together with them. Do it now!

Stop saying I’ll pray for you, as you walk by someone. Do it now!

Stop saying you’re going to change something in your life. Do it now!

Stop saying you’re going to take that trip you have always wanted to take. Do it now!

Stop saying you need to repair a broken relationship. Do it now!

Let’s stop saying and start doing.

Crazy/Beautiful Journey

This is one of my favorite verses, especially during this crazy/beautiful health journey. ~OC

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

A Miracle

This week has been full of tests. During my visit to Emory in Atlanta last month, the medical team ordered several test. So this week, I am getting them completed. These test are not new. I have had them in the past. The doctors at Emory ordered these test to see if I am a candidate for a procedure called G-POEM. This is a procedure for people with gastroparesis that can help them eat again without pain. As I was going through the first day of testing, I once again heard God telling me he was healing my stomach and that I would eat again. That is the same thing I heard God telling while Laura and I were in Atlanta last month. God didn’t give me a date or time I would be able to eat again, just that I would definitely eat again. The past 16 years my life has been filled with miracles. I truly believe God is healing my stomach of gastroparesis and I will be eating again soon. Not sure if I will ever get my appetite back, but I truly believe I will be eating soon. Never stop believing in your miracle. ~OC

About our Crazy/Beautiful Journey

My wife Laura and I have been on a crazy/beautiful health journey for the past 16 years.  I’ve been diagnosed with multiple diseases including: cancer, Parkinson’s, Myasthenia Gravis, and Gastroparesis.  Currently on a feeding tube full-time, I’ve adjusted from running multiple marathons to running a new kind of marathon: fighting for my life.  After much prayer, Laura and I decided it was time to share our journey and are working with RoseDale Communications to write our memoir in hopes of encouraging others.  Writing a book is a great way to share a story but comes with a cost.  Since 2009, I’ve been physically unable to work, spending much of my time at doctor’s appointments and in hospital stays.  Laura, in addition to working full-time, is my primary caregiver and the primary breadwinner. To help fulfill my publishing dream, Laura and I are seeking financial assistance—all donations directly fund our publishing project.  We find purpose in sharing God’s love & hope with others wherever we go. When we aren’t advocating to abolish human trafficking or speaking out on social injustice, we enjoy volunteering at our local church; and Laura, the strong foundation of this journey, enjoys creating beautiful artwork. Anything you give is greatly appreciated. God bless you.

The Blessed Overcomer

We are all told to “live your life to the fullest”. I am here to do just that. The Blessed Overcomer serves as a vessel to project my passions, honor my caretaker, wife, and foundation in this journey, Laura, and offer insight on what inspires me in this crazy world. So, sit back, relax, and read on. And may God bless you. Thank you for stopping!
