I Never Gave Up

Today’s a new day!

I don’t know when my story will end. Only God knows how many chapters remain or what the next page will hold.

I’ve faced battles that nearly broke me, received news that could have crushed my spirit, and walked through storms I never imagined surviving. My journey hasn’t been easy, and I know there are more battles ahead.

But nowhere in my story will you ever read the words, “I GAVE UP.”

I may get tired. I may hurt. I may stumble. I may have days when I don’t understand what God is doing. But by His grace, I will keep fighting, keep believing, and keep overcoming.

My health challenges are part of my story, but they will never define who I am. My faith is bigger than my fear, and my God is greater than any battle I face.

I don’t know how many pages I have left, but as long as God gives me another day, I intend to make it count.

The story isn’t over. The fight isn’t finished. And giving up? THAT WILL NEVER BE MY LEGACY! ~OC

Bible Study: Hope- Holding On To God’s Promises

Theme: Finding hope in Jesus, even when life is difficult and uncertain.

Opening Scripture:
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. ~Romans 15:13

1. Opening Activity: What Does Hope Mean to You?

Invite each participant to share what hope means to them.

“When you hear the word HOPE, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?”

2. Short Lesson: Our Hope Is in Jesus

We live in a world filled with uncertainty, disappointment, sickness, grief, and challenges. Sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way we expected, and we wonder how we will find the strength to keep moving forward.

But as followers of Jesus, our hope is not based on our circumstances; our hope is based on the faithfulness of God!

Biblical hope is more than wishing things will get better. It is trusting God’s character and believing His promises, even when we cannot see what lies ahead.

Consider these three truths:

1. God Is Our Source of Hope.

Scripture: Romans 15:13

God can fill us with joy and peace as we trust Him. We don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. We can bring our fears, questions, and disappointments to Him.

2. Jesus Gives Us Hope in Difficult Times.

Scripture: John 16:33

Jesus never promised that life would be free from trouble. He reminded His followers that He had overcome the world. Our struggles are real, but they do not have the final word.

3. Hope Keeps Us Moving Forward.

Scripture: Hebrews 6:19

The Bible describes hope as an anchor for our souls. Just as an anchor helps steady a boat during a storm, our hope in Jesus helps us remain grounded when life feels overwhelming.

Remember: Hope doesn’t mean we understand everything God is doing. It means we trust Him even when we don’t understand.

3. Group Discussion:

  1. Personal Hope: What does having hope in Jesus mean to you personally?
  2. Hope During Hard Times: Can you share a time when God gave you hope, strength, or encouragement during a difficult season?
  3. Sharing Hope: Who in your life needs encouragement right now, and how could you help them experience hope this week?

4. Three Action Steps For This Week:

Action Step 1: Spend Time with God.

Read Romans 15:13 each morning. Pray and ask God to renew your hope, strengthen your faith, and guide your steps.

Action Step 2: Encourage Someone.
Contact one person who may be struggling. Offer to pray with them, listen to their concerns, or provide practical help.

Action Step: Practice Remembering God’s Faithfulness.
Write down one way God has helped you in the past. When you feel discouraged, revisit that reminder and thank Him for sustaining you.

5. Closing Challenge:

Ask each participant to complete this sentence aloud:

“This week, I will hold on to hope by __________.”

****Hope is not about having a perfect life. It is about trusting a faithful Savior through every season of life.

How Can You Know God If You Never Listen For His Voice

Today’s a new day!

How can you truly know God if you never take the time to seek His voice, recognize His leading, and learn to follow the path He has placed before you?

Too many of us want God to bless our plans without ever asking Him for direction. We want answers without prayer, wisdom without seeking Him, and a destination without following His lead.

Knowing God is more than knowing about Him. It’s about building a relationship with Him.

It’s spending time in His presence, opening His Word, quieting the noise around us, and learning to recognize His voice. It’s trusting Him when the path doesn’t make sense and following Him even when we cannot see where the road leads.

God doesn’t promise that following Him will always be easy, but He does promise to guide those who trust Him.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)

STOP AND ASK YOURSELF: Am I truly seeking God’s direction, or am I simply asking Him to bless the direction I’ve already chosen?

You cannot learn to follow a voice you never take the time to listen for.

Seek Him. Spend time with Him. Listen. Trust. Follow.

The closer you walk with Jesus, the more your life becomes about following His path instead of insisting on your own. ~OC

Where Are The Leaders?

Today’s a new day! As we walk into this Sunday morning and new week, I want to share the following with you. Who will answer the call?

In a world filled with confusion, compromise, and conflict, where are the leaders willing to stand for what is right—even when it’s unpopular?

God isn’t looking for people who simply want a title, a platform, or a spotlight. He’s looking for men and women with the courage to stand on His truth, lead with integrity, love their neighbors, defend the vulnerable, and live out their faith when it costs them something.

Leadership isn’t about being in charge. It’s about being willing to stand up, speak truth, serve others, and do what is right when everyone else looks the other way.

We don’t need more people chasing power. We need more people pursuing God’s heart. We need leaders in our churches, communities, homes, and workplaces who refuse to compromise their convictions for popularity or personal gain.

In Joshua 24:15, Joshua boldly declares, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

That’s leadership. That’s conviction. That’s courage.

So, before we ask, “WHERE ARE THE LEADERS?” perhaps we need to ask ourselves a more challenging question:

AM I WILLING TO BE THE LEADER GOD HAS CALLED ME TO BE?

The world doesn’t just need another voice. It needs people willing to live what they believe.

The question isn’t just where the leaders are. The question is, WILL YOU ANSWER THE CALL? ~OC

Sin Is No Joke

I HATE SIN.

Not because I think I’m better than anyone else. Not because I’ve never fallen short. I hate sin because I’ve seen what it destroys.

Sin destroys people.
Sin destroys families.
Sin destroys trust.
Sin destroys churches.
Sin can destroy ministries and testimonies that took years to build.

Sin always promises more than it can deliver and takes more than we ever intended to give.

We need to stop treating sin like it’s harmless. Stop laughing about it. Stop excusing it. Stop calling it “just a little thing.”

Sin is nothing to joke around with.

But here’s the good news: Jesus didn’t come to condemn broken people. He came to save us, redeem us, forgive us, and set us free.

“Be killing sin or it will be killing you.” — John Owen

Run from sin. Run toward Jesus.

Grace is real. Forgiveness is real. Redemption is real. And because of Jesus, there is always a way home. ~OC

Florida Gators Football: Regroup, Refocus and Recommit

I have been a Florida Gators football fan since I was a child. Believe me, that’s a LONG time! And no matter what happens, I’ll always be a Gators fan.

But Gators, we need to talk.

The last two weeks have been disappointing. After all the hype and excitement surrounding this team during the first few weeks of the season, the last two games have left me wondering where that passion went.

Today, against the University of South Carolina, I watched a team that appeared to have given up. The last two weeks have looked like a team playing with a losing mentality.

And as someone who has spent more than twenty years fighting for his life, watching this team has reminded me of my own health journey.

I’ve faced cancer, Parkinson’s, Myasthenia Gravis, Gastroparesis, and countless other medical challenges. There have been days when I weighed just 110 pounds and couldn’t speak. I’ve heard frightening medical reports and faced circumstances that could have ended my life.

But I refused to let those reports define me.

My faith has sustained me through some of my darkest days. I’ve learned that a setback doesn’t have to become a surrender, and a difficult chapter doesn’t have to be the end of your story.

Gators, here’s my message to you:

STOP BELIEVING YOUR OWN HYPE!

The positive reviews from the first few weeks don’t win football games. Talent alone isn’t enough. You need heart, discipline, teamwork, and the determination to keep fighting when things get difficult.

Forget the headlines. Stop worrying about what people are saying. Get back to work, regroup, and rediscover your passion.

When you make a mistake, get back up. When adversity hits, respond. When the scoreboard isn’t going your way, keep fighting until the final whistle.

You don’t have to win every game, but we want to see you compete with heart and play for one another.

I’m frustrated, and I’m disappointed, but I’m not giving up on my Gators!

I’ve spent more than twenty years learning that life’s battles don’t always go the way we planned. Sometimes, winning means just getting out of bed and facing another day. Sometimes, it means finding the strength to keep going when everything seems stacked against you.

Gators, you have another opportunity to respond. Don’t let two difficult weeks define your season.

Regroup. Refocus. Recommit.

Find your fire again. Play with passion. Play with heart. And remember what it means to wear that Florida Gators uniform.

From one fighter to another, here’s my message: Don’t let the hype go to your head, and don’t let adversity break your spirit.

True Gators fans aren’t going anywhere. We’ll be right here, cheering you on and believing you can turn things around.

I’ve been a fan since childhood, and I’ll be a fan for life!

Stop Scrolling: America, We Need to Wake Up About Mental Health!

Saturday, October 10, is World Mental Health Day. And America, we need to have an honest conversation about mental health—not just one day a year, but every single day.

Mental health is a serious issue affecting millions of people across America and around the world. Yet, somehow, we still live in a society where people are mocked, ridiculed, and criticized for admitting they are struggling.

Recently, a so-called ESPN reporter criticized and made fun of Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson over his decision to step away from football amid mental health struggles and reportedly having both parents dealing with health issues. The reporter later attempted to apologize, but the apology came across as forced rather than sincere.

Let me be clear: THERE IS NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT SOMEONE STRUGGLING WITH THEIR MENTAL HEALTH!

We celebrate athletes for playing through physical injuries. We call them tough when they push through pain. But when someone acknowledges that they are struggling mentally and needs to step away, suddenly some people turn it into a punchline.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH US?

Mental health struggles don’t make you weak. Asking for help doesn’t make you a failure. Taking time to care for yourself doesn’t make you less of a man, woman, parent, spouse, friend, or professional.

IT MAKES YOU HUMAN!

We need to stop telling people to toughen up and start asking how we can help. We need to stop making jokes about struggles we may never fully understand. And we need to create a culture where people feel safe enough to say, “I’m not okay, and I need help.”

Whether you’re an NFL player, a teacher, a pastor, a first responder, a parent, a student, or someone quietly fighting battles nobody else can see, YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!

If you’re struggling, please don’t suffer in silence. Reach out to someone you trust. Talk to a mental health professional. Ask for help. You are not alone, and you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

And if someone trusts you enough to share their struggles, respond with compassion instead of criticism.

America, it’s time to wake up! We cannot keep talking about loving our neighbors while laughing at their pain.

Let’s stop stigmatizing mental health and start treating people with the dignity, compassion, and grace they deserve.

Because sometimes the strongest thing a person can do is admit they need help.

And sometimes, the most important thing we can do for someone else is simply remind them that they don’t have to fight alone.

BE KIND. SHOW COMPASSION. END THE STIGMA. MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS! ~OC

Be Careful Who You Let Speak For God

There are two people you should be very careful about believing:

A religious leader who tells you how to vote.
And a politician who tells you how to pray.

A pastor, priest, preacher, or church leader can teach you Scripture. They can challenge you to live like Jesus. They can encourage you to seek God’s wisdom.

But your faith should never be reduced to a voting guide.

And a politician? They can ask for your vote. They can talk about their policies, their vision, and their plans for the country.

But they don’t get to tell you what your faith should look like.

Jesus was not a Republican.
Jesus was not a Democrat.
Jesus did not come to build a political party.

Jesus came to build His Kingdom.

So read your Bible. Pray. Think critically. Examine every candidate and every leader. And never surrender your God-given conscience to someone simply because they stand behind a pulpit or behind a podium.

Don’t let politicians become prophets.
And don’t let pastors become political puppets.

Follow Jesus.

Let His Word shape your heart, your character, your compassion—and yes, even the way you vote.

Jesus should have the loudest voice in your life. ~OC

Today’s Prayer

Dear Jesus,

Today we lift up everyone facing a test, scan, treatment, or medical procedure. Calm their anxious hearts and remind them that they are never walking into that room alone.

Your Word says:

Fear not for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~Isaiah 41:10

Lord, let that promise bring comfort and courage. Give doctors, nurses, technicians, and every member of the medical team wisdom, skill, and steady hands. Bring clarity to every test and scan, and let the results reveal what needs to be known.

Surround each person with Your peace that passes understanding. Replace fear with faith, anxiety with hope, and uncertainty with the assurance that You are still in control.

Bring healing where healing is needed, strength where strength is needed, and courage for whatever comes next. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. — Psalm 46:1

We trust You. We believe You. We place it all in Your hands.

In the powerful and matchless name of Jesus. Amen.

Embrace Your Timeline

WE ALL HAVE A TIMELINE.

Every one of us is living on a timeline. None of us knows exactly how long that timeline will be, yet so many people live as if tomorrow is guaranteed.

Don’t wait.

Don’t put off the trip.
Don’t keep postponing the adventure.
Don’t wait for the “perfect” time to call someone, forgive someone, love someone, or tell someone how much they mean to you.

Embrace your timeline.

Life isn’t measured only by how many years we get, but by what we do with the years we have.

So get out there. Laugh harder. Love deeper. Take the pictures. Make the memories. Dance in the kitchen. Watch the sunrise. Take the road trip. Hug your people a little tighter.

Go live. Go love. Go make some amazing memories.

Because one day, the memories we make today may be among the greatest treasures we have left.

Don’t just count the days. Make the days count. ~OC
