I never take a good day for granted. Those days are a blessing. I never get too discouraged about a bad day. Those days are a chance for growth. ~OC
The American Nightmare
I have seen a lot of post and comments about New England Patriots Owner Robert Kraft being arrested for soliciting prostitution. What disturbs me, are the post and comments that condone his behavior. The old “Boys Will Be Boys Attitude.” What Mr. Kraft and the other men did is a crime. There are no excuses for his or the other men’s behavior.
I have spent the last 12 years of my life fighting human trafficking. A lot of Massage Parlors are fronts for human trafficking. Most of the women working at these places did not choose this career path. They were promised legitimate jobs when they came to America. They were hoping to make a better life for themselves and their families. Instead their passports were stolen from them and they are forced to service multiple men a day. Some may call it prostitution. I call it rape. The American Dream became the American Nightmare for these victims. So before you decide to make excuses for Mr. Kraft and the other men, think about the stolen dreams of each of the victims. ~OC
God’s Promise
God has promised to look after me…. to bring help. God, who defends me, who is far greater in strength than my health issues or anything else life throws at me. God, who spoke and whose words caused the universe to be. His words are true and unfailing. If He promises something, He will deliver. ~OC
Sphere of Influence
My sphere of influence is being a Abolitionist, Missionary, Speaker & a Social Media Guy. God has blessed me with the opportunity to make a difference in each of those areas. When my crazy beautiful health journey started, I never could have imagined how God would use a perceived negative to accomplish so much. I definitely cannot take any credit for all God has done the last 17 years. All I did was make the decision to be obedient and let God do the rest. This journey has not been easy, but the opportunities it has brought my way have been amazing. Where is your sphere of influence? When you find that answer, your life will never be the same. ~OC
Stop Worrying
Accomplish what you can today. Stop worrying about what you didn’t accomplish yesterday or what you hope to accomplish tomorrow. ~OC
Overwhelming
This crazy beautiful journey has had so many positive moments. The chance to share how my faith has helped me through the tough days. Reconnecting with old friends and building new friendships. Humbled that my journey has inspired others. The lessons learned. I do not know how to explain it, but I feel incredibly privileged to be on this journey. Seeing how God can use something like my health journey for so many positive things is just… overwhelming. ~OC
True Love
When I think about true love, I think about my beautiful bride Laura. If there was a picture of true love, her picture would be be front and center. This is not just a husband bragging about his wife on Valentine’s Day. Let me share a little love story with you. A young man meets a young girl while rollerblading in Palm Beach almost 20 years ago. This young couple gets married in the same year. I am sure a lot of people thought what crazy kids. In year three of this beautiful love story, the young man gets sick. Maybe just a little bump in the road. No, that little bump would become a crazy beautiful journey that would still be going on in year 20 of this love story. So what does this young girl do? She steps up and becomes the young man’s cheerleader, health advocate, caregiver and get in your face kind of protector when needed. This young lady has been my champion. That young couple could have never known the journey they would travel. But they decided to make the most of all the hospital stays and doctor visits. Many Valentine’s Days spent in the hospital. That young couple has always found a way to turn a negative into a positive. They have always decided to run, sometimes limp through this crazy beautiful journey together. Always together. ~OC
Love Story
This crazy beautiful health journey Is a love story. Some people would not look at my health battle as a love story. But I do. Laura and I have been married for almost 20 years. I have been battling health issues for 17 of them. During this time Laura has been my cheerleader, my advocate, my nurse, my best friend and the love of my life. During this journey our marriage has grown stronger. Unfortunately, that is not always the case when a spouse is dealing with major health issues. Over the years, Laura and I have heard many stories of one spouse leaving because they could not handle the pressures of the health journey. Every time we hear these stories our hearts break. We cannot imagine not walking this health journey together. This journey has not been easy, but I am thankful Laura has been with me every step of the way. I am excited to see what the next chapter of this crazy beautiful journey has in store for us. ~OC
A Simple Invitation
Good morning! I would like to invite you to a conversation. A conversation about life. A conversation about love. A conversation about how we can help can make a difference. These conversations could be messy. We might disagree about some things. But guess what? We will be talking. We will be sharing. We will probably have more in common than we think. Who’s up for accepting this invitation? I would love to have these conversations in person, but realize we all live in different places. I do not want to have these conversations online or by texting. I want to see your face or hear your voice. If you are up for this life changing invitation, feel free to contact me. Let’s make a difference together and have some great conversations. ~OC
Impacting Others
How can we impact others? Do we need to give a lot of money? No. Do we need to move across the world? Not necessarily. Do we need to have a large platform? Not at all. So, how can we impact others? I’m glad you asked. We can impact someone with a kind word. We can impact someone with a kind gesture. We can impact someone with a smile or a simple hello. We can impact someone by taking the time to listen. We can impact someone by being a great friend. None of these cost a thing. Well, that’s not completely true. It will take you slowing down. It will take your time. But I guarantee it will be worth it. Go impact your part of the world. ~OC
